Celebrities in Mock Stocking Pantyhose

mock stockings pantyhose and celebrities

As the weather is getting colder, Vancouver is filled with Asian girls walking around in mock stocking pantyhose.  I even saw one in Costco the other day with runs in the sheer part all over that didn’t seem to bother her.  Today also spotted a few in transit.

I wrote more on the subject of mock stockings for the next issue of Finn Magazine (contact me for a promo code for that).  Even modeled in pantyhose like that for them, also wearing high heels and short dress, which made my legs look super sexy.  I must say though that Asian girls here only wear such style with flat shoes that are completely non-feminine and jean shorts, almost as an attempt to play down the sexiness of the design.

If I wear something like that, I want to look like a real sex bomb, so in my case flat shoes are out of question. My next “homework” for such designs is to experiment with different colours of mock stocking pantyhose to see which ones work best with my outfits.

Which one of these should I start with?

Dear friends, is anyone of you by any chance a member of the American Hosiery Association?  I would love to have a look at what they have, but the costs are way too high to justify for this blog.

If anyone is a member, I offer an opportunity to trade perhaps promotion for shared access, if that makes any sense.  Please contact me directly if you are a member and would like to discuss this possibility.

Friday, March 8, 2013 – "International Women’s Day" (Except in the United States!)

by David, United States

8 of march

Soviet poster saying “8th of March is the Rebellion Day of Female Workers against enslavement in the kitchen. The end to oppression and redundancy of household chores.”

"A Promise is a Promise : Time for Action to end Violence against Women" is the official UN theme for tomorrow’s  International Women’s Day; "The Gender Agenda – Gaining Momentum" is the IWD 2013’s chosen theme.

International Women’s Day was observed for the first time in 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. More than a million women got involved, and the push was for women’s right to vote, hold public office, get vocational training, and receive unemployment rights.

Alexandra Kollontai, Bolshevik activist, convinced Vladimir Lenin to declare International Women’s Day an official Russian holiday in 1912.

The women of International Women’s Day in Russia were active in protesting World War I, and in 1917 went on strike  for "Peace and bread"  on the last Sunday in February  which was March 8 on the Gregorian calendar. Several days later the Czar abdicated and the provisional government granted Russian women the right to vote.

Over the years the political protest nature of the holiday faded in Russia, and today it is their combination of Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day – men all over Russia buy gifts, flowers, and candy for the women in their lives. It is an official Russian holiday, and dearly loved in the hearts of its people.

Initially International Women’s Day was celebrated primarily in the Soviet Bloc and socialist nations.

Today International Women’s Day is an official holiday in the following countries:

  • Afghanistan
  • Angola
  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belarus
  • Burkina Faso
  • Cambodia,
  • China (for women only)
  • Cuba, Georgia
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Eritrea
  • Kazakhstan
  • Kyrgyzstan
  • Laos
  • Macedonia (for women only)
  • Madagascar (for women only)
  • Moldova
  • Mongolia
  • Montenegro
  • Nepal (for women only)
  • Russia
  • Tajikistan
  • Turkmenistan
  • Uganda
  • Ukraine
  • Uzbekistan
  • Vietnam
  • Zambia

It was never adopted as a holiday in the USA; presumably because of its Soviet Bloc and socialist country origins. However, thousands of USA women have embraced the day, and huge events are planned in the larger American cities, especially the Big Apple – big rally, big march, and a cocktail party at the Empire Room in the Empire State Building !!! (Make mine a double!)

Happy International Women’s day to all you ladies – whether or not your country has endorsed it!

My Vacation in Las Vegas

This summer I did something that is for sure going to be a memory of a lifetime – a coast to coast road trip in United States.  You can read about all different places I’ve been to in my diary section, but for now I’d like to talk about my great visit to Las Vegas.

Vegas, the Sin City, is a very unique place.  Surrounded by the desert, this “island” has an unbelievable density of casinos, clubs, bars, shows, theatres, buffets, and whatever else crosses your mind that is entertainment-related.  It was my first time there and I wanted it to be memorable, but in a positive way.

Maybe the concept of “me in Vegas” is a little bit of an oxymoron.  I don’t drink, smoke, use any kind of substances, and I don’t gamble.  Obviously I checked out all the casinos, but that was more to look at the beauty of the establishment.

Casino waitresses were wearing mostly black semi-opaque pantyhose, but they were not exactly model types as I imagined them to be.  However the go-go dancers on the bar were very beautiful, but instead of regular pantyhose they were wearing either nude or black fishnets.  There was so many of them there!

Probably my only guilty addiction is my love for tea!  But that’s something that made me puff up almost every single time I’d enter a hotel room in United States – coffee is there, tea is not.  I felt like throwing a real hissy fit over this, but I quickly realized where I am and calmed down.  In Canada tea is a very popular beverage because we still have a lot of British traditions there.

I felt it every single day on my trip – United States is not a British place.  So why would they honour traditions of the “Old Country”, as our Canadian folks refer to England and France?  That includes all the etiquette which is pretty much a very British thing… such as tea and perhaps wearing hosiery.  I think this might be an explanation to why Kate Middleton is in pantyhose and Lady Obama isn’t.

Vegas is a controversial place where you may see things that you normally don’t.  There is a lot of fast food and even the Heart Attack Grill with a motto of “if you are over 350 lbs, you eat free”.  I climbed on the scale there and realized that I need to triple my weight in order to get a free lunch.

Another controversial topic is what happens after Friday night.  As we were heading out of Vegas on Saturday morning, at 8:58 a.m. there was a long line up of people outside of the pawn shop waiting for the doors to open.  They were not there to shop, but to swap some item for a quick coin.

They’ve got the best Hooters hotel there though with hostesses everywhere!  There was even a limbo game going on and they were having a lot of fun.  I also ate at the Hooters restaurant for the experience.  It broke some of my stereotypes about Hooters, let’s just say.  I thought that they only hired women with a full bust, but there was not much of it there.  Also, I noticed that they even had a pregnant waitress there with her shirt saying “baby on board”.  It made me feel that the girls who worked there were actually real, not some artificially-enhanced vixens.

At some point I saw a tourist dressed like Snow White with his friends who were wearing green shirts and were supposed to be the dwarves.  Right away I asked him to pose together for a picture and to my surprise he agreed and wanted a photo for himself too.  As soon as I pulled up my skirt to show the stockings, he was totally game and pulled it up even higher.  I am sure that he didn’t expect a woman in a proper knee length skirt like mine to have stockings and garter belt under!

My biggest highlight was my visit to Cirque du Soleil.  I really wanted to see the show Zumanity, but they went on vacation, so I saw a martial arts themed show called Ka.  That was so worth it!  Let’s just say, just like most normal people, I have a limited budget, but I would rather spend it all on exhilarating experiences like this one, rather than on clothes or high end dining. These performers devote their whole life to the circus and I have the deepest respect for that.

I really liked Vegas in my own way and I keep on thinking of when I’ll go back there for longer, so I can visit all those shows that kept on teasing me with the flashing billboards.
