Manolo Blahnik Shoes

I was just browsing through Vogue and I found a few photos of Manolo Blahnik designs involving his shoes paired perfectly with stockings. This Spanish designer for sure knows how to put the two together. Latex, nylon, or who knows what, it adds that fantasy dimension to the image.

Manolo Blahnik shoes and hosiery

Manolo Blahnik started his career in the 70s and brought back elegance and femininity by popularizing and perfecting the stiletto heel once again. Even though platforms were extremely in fashion in those days, he just didn’t like them and up to this very day you will find any platform shoes in his collection. In his opinion, platform shoes don’t go well with female body proportions.

Dressing up for Victory Day

May 9th (or May 8th, depending on who you ask) is the Victory Day, the end of World War II. This year friends invited me and my guy out to celebrate to a themed event in a restaurant. Here’s a shot below from the elevator.

It was really nice, happy and sad at the same time. May 9th is a very emotional day for me, it’s never easy to think about the sacrifices and losses of the war. Even though it wasn’t my generation, but I grew up with my grandparents telling me those stories. I phoned my grandpa to congratulate him first thing in the morning.

But since this is a hosiery blog, I just have to highlight some of the leg fashion statements from that outing. Please don’t let this mislead you that I in any way give more significance to clothing than to the this historical event. It’s just the nature of this blog.

I wore a black dress that I got as a present from one of my amazing fans and my friend also had a really nice dress on paired with black sheer pantyhose. Here’s a photo of our legs below posing on the dance floor.

I saw some really nicely dressed women dancing, about 80% of them had some kind of pantyhose on and nice heels. One blond lady had such amazing heels (and nude pantyhose too) that I couldn’t resist and went to talk to her when she sat down at her table.

I asked her politely to take a photo of her shoes and I mentioned that I wonder how she can dance on such heels. Instead of posing for a photo she asked me what size I wear and suggested that I try it on so that I know for myself how comfortable those are!

She took off her shoe and handed it to me and I took off mine. Of course I pulled up my guy with his camera and took the opportunity to get a photo of my foot in her shoe. Turns out that she got those shoes as a present and it was her first day wearing them.

At that point some of her friends came to sit down and they were sort of surprised to see her with one shoe off and and me with her other shoe on. To top it off, my guy tried to take a photo, but according to that fashion lady his angle wasn’t good enough, so she persisted to coach him on how to take a proper photo and show off the heel. Let’s just say there was a lot of commotion around my foot dressed in her shoe.

So the last photo here was done to her satisfaction, as she felt that the heel was shown properly and this shoe swap photosession ended. I am guessing that the man who was with her was probably the one who got her those shoes. If that’s the case, he got to see his gift in the midst of admiration.

Shiny Pantyhose Screensaver

Enjoy the screen saver!  Someone posted it on the forum for people to download, so I figured I’ll pass it on.  Just click on the image and it will open in higher resolution.

I love the stiletto heels this blondie is wearing and looking at this photo makes me want to do a nice sexy photoshoot myself with my shiny hose.

Race on High Heels in Russia – Pantyhose Not Ripped in Vain

Run on High Heels

Maria Gridina, on the photo above, dressed in the spirit of the high heel competition, so she wore beige pantyhose and funny striped socks.  She really tried hard, but she fell and ripped her pantyhose, scraping her knees.  No worries, doctors right away took care of her injury at the finish line.

She still however found the courage and strength to pose for photos and smile and her efforts were not in vain.  She got a prize for her “Determination to Win” for her strong will.  The prize was a gift certificate for a beauty salon.

Not all contestants were young, there was even a woman who wan the prize “Most Gracious” at the age of 55.  It’s never too late to be fun, sporty, and feminine!  The race on high heels brought out all ages.

Barnaul Race on High Heels

In Barnaul city though there were some restriction – only blondies (or brunettes in blond wigs) could compete and they had to wear pink clothing.  The distance was 100 meters.

Karina Barbie is came to run on high heels.

The heel length requirement all over Russia seemed to be consistently at 9 cm.  The winner was a 27 year old accountant who admitted to practice for the whole year to run on heels.  She went to run at the stadium on high heels for practice and also researched information on how to walk properly on such tall shoes online.

Moscow Race on High Heels

This run was organized by Glamour Magazine.  For this run more then a hundred women were required to go 50 cm on high heels.  Many of them even taped their shoes to their legs to prevent losing them.

Karina Barbie was one of the contestants.  She is a fun character, full of confidence and desire to be known as the “living doll”.  She wears almost everything pink.

Along with Karina Barbie, there were other local celebrities present at that event, like Russia’s Eurovision contestant from 2011, mostly probably for promotional purposes.

The winner of the race was a professional runner.  She was wearing black leggings, maybe about 60 den, but overall her outfit for some reason was more sporty then sexy even though she had beautiful heels on.

So, when is such competition coming to North America?  I am sure that I’ll take the prize for Best Pantyhose, but for sure not speed.  One of my teachers used to say that it’s not the winning that matters, but participation.
